...don’t forget about how it’s lit. I just learned the hard way. Here’s a picture series of my ‘88 Peugeot 205 GTI. Pictures that suck as a result . The skies are nice though. Edited: post-processing is crucial. See below.

I left the unaltered pictures, and pasted the new ones at the bottom. The top picture is a processed one. Thanks to RWS Motorsport for the tip.

It was 6:30 pm today when I took these.

The few above are still acceptable I guess. The rest of them, not so much. These are the least-bad ones.

And yes, the plastic on the bumpers and sides should be worked on to make them look less weathered.

yeah I came to say it looks like it needs a good polish, I can see the swirls, and some trim restorer on it to pop. Looks great though. I released the info to the Peugeot club today that one is coming over because they were all talking about the RHD one and how the price was a little too high

Also, I was going nuts at a car show the other day. Between the trees, storm, and intense sun when there was no storm I kept going from 1/4000 to 1/60 and F/16 to F/4. Sometimes that still wasn’t enough.

It’s a diamond in the rough. Interior (save for former mounting holes in the dash) and the mechanics are really great, however the outside is a bit rougher. Not rough, but not exactly perfect either. Multiple minor dents that can be pushed back, trim that needs to be treated to make it darker. And that wax you mentioned. I didn’t wash it in advance.

And there I was, using a Nikon Coolpix S2800.

205 gti :D love it.

also, Lightroom is your friend on this. Ive been working through my evening shots from Le Mans, and correcting them to get the sky colour back. If you can get your hands on lightroom you will be amazed at the results.

also pt 2. the pictures are really nicely composed which is so much of the battle, so fixing the darkness would make them awesome. I downloaded and tried it with one:

Oops, just noticed my watermark on that, ignore that haha, default lightroom export.

That’s a real improvement. Great advice too. The pictures I posted are utterly unaltered and straight from the camera.

Yeah mine look very similar when they come out the camera, but hooray for Lightroom. Im sure people more capable than me would be able to make them look like that fresh from camera, but alas, i lack the gift.

Noon isn’t the best for lighting, it’s usually pretty harsh then. Early morning/late evening is usually softer and nicer light.

You could use fill flash to light the car better. But my first suggestion would be to position the car so you are shooting the pictures with the sun behind you. That way the part of the car facing you won’t be in shadow.

I played a bit with the trial version of that software, and added a bunch of pictures above. You can’t totally fix a shitty picture, but you surely can approve them.

Ha I like that. Yeah you cant fix shit, but you can polish it. You can certainly save all but the really badly exposed shots which is handy.

Would you mind if I took a crack at editing this one?

Not at all! I got it this far by the way, but it was merely a simple 2 click adjustment:

I couldn’t raise the shadows too much without degrading the picture. I cropped it a bit too.

EDIT: Also it’s pretty tiny.

There. I saved the image from having expanded it so it worked out much better this time.
